I remember growing up, the most I heard about Venice Beach was that there is a boardwalk and getting a sense of what I pertain the culture to be from the movie Lords of Dogtown! Being back in L.A, I often find myself heading further west for my daily fix of watching surfers line up in the ocean, waiting to catch the next wave, catching a quick glimpse of shirtless men and women wearing denim cut-offs and loose fitting tops bicycling up and down the street with what I imagine to be as a “not a care in the world” attitude and of course, eating my way up and down Abbott Kinney Blvd …the charming coolness still lives in Venice. Because it is easy for me to head over to Venice on any given off day, I thought it best to share with you my top five things to do in Venice.
No brainer here and one of the reasons most people head to Venice…the chain that is Gjelina, Gjusta and GTA (Gjelina Takeaway) are golden! I have yet to be disappointed when going to either three restaurants. The food is fresh and impeccable and each bite I take is an emotion that I really can’t put into words…you definitely need to experience it for yourself!
#2 The Venice Canals
#3 Menotti’s Coffee Stop
I have been a fan of Menotti’s since I moved to L.A! Their cold brew is refreshing but that damn Spanish latte gets me every time! Great coffee aside, they have some very talented baristas as well as a top notch vinyl collection (which for most of my visits) have been hip hop music that greets you at the door!

#4 Abbott Kinney
1650 Abbott Kinney Blvd. Venice, CAAlso not to be missed, Lincoln Boulevard where you may find this treasure of a store.
General Store 1801 Lincoln Blvd. Venice, CA 90291
#5 Venice Beach
I’m pretty obsessed with watching the kids at the Venice skatepark work on their craft, one of the reasons I like heading to Venice Beach but, it is also great to go before the sand is littered with people and watch the early risers go in for the first waves of the morning. Whether you’re working on your tan, catching up on some summer reads or just needing a quick getaway from the day to day grind, there is no better place to do it than at the beach and while Los Angeles offers many beaches to chose from, Venice is accessible and just equals a good time for those looking for it.
